How Can My Company Get Involved?
There are many different
opportunities for companies and organizations who want to get involved with Big
Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Detroit.
1. Sponsor a Match
Companies can choose to underwrite either a school-based or community-based match.
The agency provides the sponsor with updates on the mentoring match and recognition
in the community. The average cost is $1000 for a school-based mentoring match; $1000
for a community-based mentoring match.
2. Mentoring Partnerships
BBBSMD wants companies to serve as mentor partners by providing opportunities for their
employees to participate as Lunch Buddies. As a mentor rich resource, one company can complete
alter the climate of a school by providing mentors for one hour twice a month. The Lunch Buddies
program is structured, in an exclusive space and supervised by one of our site-based specialists
to help volunteers get acquainted with their Littles, set goals and reach them. Bigs are able to
interact with their Littles through the school year and learn about the changes they make in the
lives of their Littles at the end of the school year.
3. Corporate Partnerships
Businesses can enter into full partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan
Detroit by not only supporting mentoring among its employee ranks, but also serving
as a key contributor and advocate for the agency. Such partnerships may include
marketing and public relations benefits for the business (such as recognition on
the agency’s website, letterhead, and publications), participation in governance
and event sponsorships.

What's In It For You?
Providing corporate volunteers is one of the
most cost-effective ways to unlock new training and development resources according to the latest
Deloitte volunteer Impact Survey research study that measures the important aspects of corporate community involvement.
Eighty-seven percent of human resources managers surveyed agreed that their company's training and development program is under pressure to develop the next
generation of leaders, yet 70 percent indicated that their budget either remained flat or decreased
over the last year. Skills-based volunteer activities are perceived as a cost-effective development
option; only 2 percent of total respondents believe that incorporating skills-based volunteering into talent
development programs would cost more than traditional training and development options. BBBSMD will work
with your company or corporation to engage young leaders in mutually beneficial ways.
