Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Detroit Announces its 2014-2015 Ambassador Board
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Detroit (BBBSMD) is pleased to announce its 2014-2015 Ambassador Board (AB) Members. Nineteen dynamic young professionals have committed to the mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Detroit by volunteering their time and talents to creating opportunities for metro Detroit youth through mentoring. These appointments reflect the Agency’s ongoing commitment to finding the very best emerging community leaders from across Southeastern Michigan to expand the reach of the organization.
Secretary of State Ruth Johnson Partners with Big Brothers Big Sisters to provide at-risk youth with Drivers Education Opportunities
Vehicular crashes are the number one cause of death for teenagers in the United States. According to the Michigan Department of Community Health, approximately three (3) out of five (5) fortuitous deaths for teenagers and young adults ages 15-24, are due to motor vehicle accidents. In response to these alarming statistics, Michigan Secretary of State Ruth Johnson has partnered with Big Brothers Big Sisters agencies throughout Michigan, the T. Wall Foundation, and All-Star Driving School to afford Graduated Driver Licensing courses for at-risk youth.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Detroit President and CEO Departs
Dara Munson, President and Chief Executive Officer of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan, has accepted a Chief Operating Officer position with the Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan, and will depart the Agency on August 1, 2014. Having served in this capacity for over seven (7) years, Dara has been responsible for leading the local affiliate of the nation's largest volunteer and donor-supported mentoring network for youth, ages 7-18. Her effective leadership and commitment to improving the circumstances for risk-adverse youth has positioned the agency to successfully provide transforming mentoring relationships for hundreds of youth throughout Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb Counties.
