PROGRAMS

We at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Detroit are following CDC and State of Michigan guidelines to protect the health and safety of our volunteers, youth, families, and staff.

Big Brothers Big Sisters programs benefit America’s most important asset—our children. Each
program needs Defenders of Potential to succeed!
Partnerships with businesses, foundations, schools, organizations, and individuals are fundamental to our organization's effort to support children.

Community-Based Programs

Community-based mentoring relationships involve one-to-one outings of free or low-cost activities, doing things the Big and Little enjoy together. Matches meet two hours, twice a month.

Each match is unique and develops a schedule that works for them. Matches are required to make a minimum of a one year commitment to the program.

Supported By:

  • United Way of Southeast Michigan

  • Youth Collaboratory

  • FCA Foundation

  • National Football League

Beyond School Walls: Worksite Mentoring

Youth need to see themselves in a workplace environment to consider their path in life and learn 21st century job skills, like listening, collaboration, communication and creative thinking.  Specific schools are paired with a corporate partner for one-to-one mentoring at their worksite.

Lunch Buddies

Volunteers are matched one-on-one with youth at a specific partnering school. Mentors meet with youth at the school twice a month for 1-hour sessions of various planned activities.
